DanceHouse in the Community

Speaking of Dance Conversations

Co-presented by DanceHouse and SFU Woodward’s Cultural Programs, Speaking of Dance Conversations is a series of free public dialogues and roundtable conversations about the world of dance and arts, contextualizing it within culture and society. Presented by noted writers, choreographers and creative thinkers, Speaking of Dance is a platform for everyone to share and develop their observations and interpretations.

Speaking of Dance Pre- and Post-Show Talks

Join us at the theatre for the Speaking of Dance conversation with an artist or representative from the visiting company at select performances. Check on the event page to see whether the performance you attend will feature one of these talks and whether it will take place pre- or post-show. This is an excellent opportunity to gain insight into the presentation you are about to experience.

All dates, times, and guests, will be announced on the relevant show-specific page.

Masterclasses

Each time DanceHouse brings a company into town, it comes with perks for the Vancouver community! DanceHouse engages visiting companies and artists in a series of local masterclasses, reaching beyond the stage and directly into the studio. Join a DanceHouse masterclass and learn directly from the exceptional artists you are about to see on stage!

Each masterclass is presented through community partnerships. Partners include Arts Umbrella, Harbour Dance Centre, Lamondance Training and Performing Company, and SFU School for the Contemporary Arts, among others.

Upcoming masterclasses can be found here.

Post-Show Social

Join us following a Friday performance at the Vancouver Playhouse for the Post-Show Social. This is your chance to meet and chat with the artists and members of the company who performed, while also getting to know members of the DanceHouse team and board of directors. Everyone is welcome.

15X15 Youth Tickets

As a special initiative for our 15th Anniversary Season, DanceHouse is thrilled to offer subsidized tickets to people under the age of 30 with low-income. We believe that young people in our community should have more access to the arts, which is why we have introduced our new 15X15 youth ticket for our 15th season. Learn more here
