This is well into July, but we wanted to let you know about Svāhā! from Nova Dance, July 14 & 15. Co-presented with Indian Summer Festival and SFU Woodward’s Cultural Programs, Nova Bhattacharya’s latest work Svāhā! celebrates the cathartic power of performance to unite people in laughter, beauty and shared joy.   Inspired by women building community through acts of celebration, mourning and worship, Nova Dance uses the universal language of movement to gather people together in synchronous experience. In addition to a cast of more than 20 performers from almost 30 different dance traditions – everything from Bharatnatyam to Butoh, as well as ballet, jazz and salsa, Svāhā! features local artists in an opening invocation that accompanies the performances. From this experience of communion and solidarity comes a work brimming with life, colour, and revelry of every hue. Svāhā! is a shouted riposte to the loss, isolation, and social fracture of recent years and an expression of togetherness made tangible. Vibrating with life, love, and the profound pleasure of movement, it is a reminder of our shared existence and a return to wholeness and abundance. Check out a teaser and then buy your tix here. At the Vancouver Playhouse, 8 pm

You have until Saturday, June 3, to catch Rachel Meyer in her work Many Worlds. 4 dancers and 4 musicians explore individual trajectories, interconnection and the boundaries of the performance space and time. A series of events is repeated numerous times, eventually collapsing notions of independence or predictability. Subtle and drastic changes alter relationships, perceptions and outcomes, as we confront the tension between what is seen and what is unseen. At 298 Alexander Street Vancouver, 8:30 pm. Tix

This Friday and Saturday, June 2 & 3, Lamondance presents The Things That Dreams Are Made Of, new Works by Anya Allegra, CAMP Collective, Jera Wolfe, Margarida Macieira and Davi Rodrigues. A spectacular performance combining poetry, stagecraft and daring dance explores the delicate balance between reality and illusion, dreaming and achieving, the world we all share. Lamondance’s The Things That Dreams Are Made Of allows the audience to join in a world of possibilities, inspired by different stories of dance, transforming their senses. At BlueShore Financial Centre for the Performing Arts. 7:30 pm. Tix
